Big crowd hears council candidates talk transportation

(Photos: J. Maus/BikePortland)

Last night proved that while transportation might not be the top issue in Portland politics in 2018, it still brings out the biggest crowds.

There was barely even standing room at the Lucky Lab Beer Hall in northwest last night for the City Council Candidate Forum on Transportation — an event co-hosted by the Young Professionals in Transportation, Community Cycling Center, The Street Trust, and OPAL Environmental Justice Oregon. The crowd impressed Commissioner Nick Fish who said in his opening remarks: “This is the largest turnout we’ve had for an event.”

Just a part of the crowd.

I tweeted a bunch of updates last night (read thread here) as the event unfolded and I’m working on a full recap right now. But as the day grows older, I want to make sure to capture thoughts from those of you who attended.

This post will be updated in the next few hours with full highlights from the event.

For now, please share what you took away. Did anyone surprise you? Did you find your candidate?
