Welcome to the weekend.

I’m typing this from Schipol Airport in Amsterdam awaiting a flight to Paris. I’m having a great time so far! I hope all is well back in Portland.

If you need some suggestions for rides to do this weekend, we’ve got a few ideas for you. Don’t miss the Town Hall ride on Saturday. It’s a great chance to chat with your state legislators. And of course Sunday Parkways!

Saturday, September 24th

Rapha Prestige – All day, starts in Yamhill
This team event promises to be an all-day adventure with a challenging 90-mile route from Yamhill County wine country up and over the coast range. Registration is closed, so if you aren’t already on the list you might want to flag this one for next year. More info here.

Ninkrossi – All day at Washougal Motocross Park
Part of the Grand Prix Candi Murray cyclocross race series, Ninkrossi is a classic venue with a course that includes the famous “N” chicane. More info here.

Sorella Forte Women’s Club Ride – 9:00 am at River City Bicycles (706 SE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd)

Help support the bicycling community in Milwaukie with this pre-Sunday Parkways jaunt. The route will head up to the Springwater and through inner southeast Portland neighborhoods. More info here.

Take Life by the Handlebars – 9:30 am at Tilikum Bridge (2730 SW Moody)
Join the Portland Wheelment Touring Club and ride leader Ann Morrow for a beginner-friendly, 4.5 mile ride. This ride is meant as an introduction to cycling in Portland and is hosted by Biketown. More info here.

Bike Town Hall with State Legislators – 10:00 am at The Outer Rim (10625 NE Halsey)
Grab this excellent opportunity to ride bikes with three state legislators: Michael Dembrow, Alissa Keny-Guyer and Barbara Smith Warner. Ride will focus on transportation-related and community projects underway in the Gateway neighborhood. More info here.

Sauvie Shootout – 9:00 am at Ovation Coffee (941 NW Overton)
If you want to get faster, roll out to Portland’s premier traning ride. The “Shootout” heads out to Sauvie Island and then traverses the West Hills and heads back downtown via Skyline. More info here.

Sunday Parkways Sellwood – 11:00 am to 4:00 pm
Coined the “Sellwaukie” route, this special Sunday Parkways is a partnership of the cities of Portland and Milwaukie. Come out and enjoy a route that hits for fun marketplaces including the Milwaukie Farmers Market. Get ready for a big salmon theme! More info here.
